Re: Any hotspots?

Holmes Run is one of my favorite local streams. I am so disapointed that the fishing there has been so poor this year. I was there a few days after they stocked it and a few times after that, but haven't had any luck. The first few times I went, I could at least see fish but the last few times I hav...

My newest rod build; olive graphite, first grip I ever made

Here are some pics of my latest fly rod building project, an olive graphite 9' 3pc 5/6wt. It has American Tackle gold zirconia single foot guides, American Tackle braided window titanium reel seat with coralwood insert, and white YLI #100 silk thread. The ferrules are wrapped with olive Gudebrod nyl...

These are my first three attempts at tying deer hair poppers. The red/white was the first I've ever tied, followed by the green and last, the blue/yellow with the yellow legs sticking out.

Re: Any hotspots?

Lake Cook is not a catch and release fishery. It is stocked 3 times over the winter I think. Most of the anglers who fish there keep the trout they catch, so as the days go by there are less and less fish to catch until the next time it is stocked. I went there a few weeks ago when, according to oth...

Fly fishing at Burke Lake

These are two fish I caught one day last summer at Burke Lake after I gave up fishing for the Carp there. I caught them both on the same fly of my own creation, which is basically like a weighted wooly bugger made with orange/black chenelle, and a short tail made of orange floss.
